However, the KIR test process is actually empty of enthusiasts, even though some are free.

KIR (scale) testing is an important part of efforts to maintain passenger safety. The narrative is because motorized vehicles will be checked for feasibility to operate on the streets. The Ministry of Transportation did not want to be left behind.

They tried to issue Ministerial Regulation Number 108 of 2017. The legal product requires KIR tests for all regular and online taxis. This obligation is given so that taxis have eligibility standards related to safety.

The Ministry of Transportation also tries to provide facilities to conduct vehicle KIR tests in various places. The power of attorney also does not forget to cooperate with the private sector so that they want to collaborate on serving KIR tests, some for free. All of this is done so that the KIR test can run effectively and quickly.

Whoever has tested KIR, will later be given a sign on the aluminum plate (not knocked on the chassis as before). However, KIR test enthusiasts are not big.

Not many online taxis want to do KIR tests for fear of lower vehicle selling prices. In fact, the KIR test is one of the requirements so that online taxis can operate.

"They are not afraid (of KIR testing) but say (worrying) the price goes down because the identity is there, the marks are there, so yes, we don't put the solution on the body, but on the plate," said the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Pudji Hartanto as quoted by the COMPASS.com page, March 11, 2017.

The lack of interest in the KIR test made Budi Karya Sumadi furious on August 6, 2017. The Minister of Transportation considers that the KIR test is an important thing that online taxi drivers must do. This condition made Budi threatened the situation, which did not carry out the KIR test, his operation would be dismissed.

The threat was made so that online taxi users do not only think about income, but they also have to think about the safety and security of passengers. He asked the online transportation manager to remind his partners.

KIR test matters should not be taken lightly. The government will increase raids related to online taxis that do not carry out KIR tests.

At the latest the next three months, we will conduct raids. Don't stop the KIR (we) test. Because it's a basis for passenger safety. It's impossible for us to let them (transportation online) go their own way without a fit test," Budi said as quoted on the tempo.co page, August 6, 2017.
