Mahfud MD Affirms AHY Is Still The Legitimate Democrat Chairman In Today's Memory, March 7, 2021

JAKARTA Memori hari ini, lima tahun yang lalu, 7 Maret 2021, Menteri Koordinator Bidang Politik, Hukum, dan Keamanan (Menkopolhukam), Mahfud MD menegaskan Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) masih Ketum Umum (Ketum) Partai Demokrat yang sah. Tanggap itu didasarkan AD/ART 2020.

Previously, AHY had created an uproar by the mass media by revealing the presence of great powers that wanted to take over the Democratic Party. The great power in question is people in the circle of power of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi): Moeldoko.

The position of leadership of political parties has great power in defending the lives of the Indonesian people. Andil, the party leader, can also have a big influence in determining the direction of national politics. This condition makes the position of the party chairman often a fight.

AHY also agreed. The son of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) felt that his position as Chairman of the Democrats was threatened on February 1, 2021. AHY, who had just had a meeting with the top ranks of the Democratic Party, felt that there was great power who wanted to remove him from his position as chairman.

AHY said that there were people in the close circle of President Jokowi who were eyeing his position. In fact, he wanted to take over the leadership of the Democratic Party by force. AHY's statement then caused an uproar in the mass media.

The general assembly then predicted that the Democratic position would have the same fate as the previous National Awakening Party (PKB) Gus Dur was beaten back from PKB. AHY did only mention someone close to the president. There is no continuation regarding who his figure is.

Recently, AHY himself said that the figure was the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Moeldoko. This condition became even more bitter when the Extraordinary Conference (KLB) of the Democratic Party was held in Deli Serdang on March 5, 2021. The participants were cadres of the Democratic Party who did not support AHY.

The results of the Deli Serdang KLB determined Moeldoko as the Democratic Chairman for the period 2021-2026. AHY is considered demisionary by the KLB version.

"I am grateful, but previously there were several questions I asked to the forum participants, have the elections at the congress been carried out according to the party's AD/ART? Are you ready to build a party and uphold your commitment for the nation and state without personal interests?" said Moeldoko as quoted by the COMPASS.com page, March 5, 2021.

AHY considers the Deli Serdang KLB invalid. He emphasized that most of his participants were Democratic cadres who had been fired. He asked the government to be quick to respond to the conflict over the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Jokowi's own government seems to fend off the notion that they are interfering in the leadership dispute of the Democratic Party. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD also emphasized that AHY is still the legitimate Democratic Chairman on March 7, 2021.

The affirmation came from the government which still recognizes the AD/ART of the Democratic Party in 2020. The case of changes to the AD/ART in the future is another matter. Mahfud promised that his party would carry out thorough verification. Later, the results of the verification were announced at the end of March with AHY remaining as the Democratic Chairman.

"The last AD / ART government is AD / ART which was handed over in 2020. Sorry, yesterday I may have mistaken the year 2025. What is true is that the AD / ART which was handed over in 2020 numbered MHH 9 of 2020 dated 18 May 2020. Based on that, the general chairman of the Democratic Party is AHY. .

"Later, there will be a problem whether the AD / ART which is the basis for what is called the KLB in Deli Serdang is valid or not, we will value it later. We will value it openly. So it is legal logic. Because legal logic is also people's logic, so we are allowed to play games. So the legitimate AD / ART has been submitted to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2020, that will be the main basis," Mahfud said as quoted by the COMPASS.com page, March 7, 2021.
