JAKARTA - The Cinta Fitri series will air today Tuesday, October 5 on WeTV Original. In this first season, the series, which was adapted from the soap opera starring Shireen Sungkar and Tengku Wisnu, has 15 episodes.
"It is an honor for WeTV to be able to broadcast a remake of a classic Indonesian film that is quite phenomenal, as well as one of the longest soap operas in history," said Country Head of WeTV and iflix Indonesia, Lesley Simpson, in South Jakarta, Monday, October 4.
Actor Rizky Nazar and actress Tissa Biani were lined up as the main characters in the Cinta Fitri series. Both will compete acting to play Farrell and Fitri. In this remake version, WeTV collaborates with MD Pictures to bring Cinta Fitri back as a modern web series with a storyline and surprises that viewers will love.
"We are not only presenting it as a modern spectacle, but also giving an unexpected touch that Indonesian audiences have never seen before," said Lesley.
Manoj Punjabi, founder of MD Entertainment, said that the original WeTV Cinta Fitri is a remake of MD's big IP, which tells a classic story, packed with a modern feel for today's online generation.
"I am proud to see the results. I think I can really reboot this soap opera, it looks modern 2021. I hope that Cinta Fitri can be a spectacle that can be killer content. MD is committed to maintaining the quality of the series, hopefully it will be bigger. Hopefully Cinta Fitri in these 15 episodes can be accepted. Can't be too confident. But I'm sure the audience will get something," said Manoj.
Director Anggy Umbara said, Cinta Fitri is a light entertainment work full of meaning and very close to everyday life. Love stories are always interesting because they are close to the audience and easy to make baper or get carried away.
"Audiences will fall in love with the characters played brilliantly by the players and will always be curious about the journey of each character that is attached to the story," he said.
WeTV Original Cinta Fitri tells the story of a simple and innocent girl named Fitri (Tissa Biani) who must struggle to survive in Jakarta after her dream of getting married is shattered, when her fiancé Firman (Dimas Anggara) dies.
Embarrassed and depressed by her family's situation in her hometown, Fitri decides not to return immediately. Fitri's struggle steps lead her to Retro, an advertising company owned by a businessman named Hutama and his son, Farel (Rizky Nazar).
Fitri's naive and outspoken side made Farel realize that he never had as much courage as Fitri in life. To test his independence, Farel decided to leave the house.
This incident apparently caused a misunderstanding because everyone linked Fitri with Farel's departure.
Fitri then decides to leave Retro, while Farel, who is now independent, asks Fitri for help to teach him household chores. And that's where various obstacles in their love story began.
