JAKARTA - Films Like Revenge, Longing Must Be Paid Completely will be screened in the World Focus section at the 2021 Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), which will be the premiere of this film in the Land of Sakura. This Edwin film is the only film that represents TIFF 2021.

World Focus presents the latest works from other countries that have never been released in Japan, as well as screens Spanish, Central American and South American films in collaboration with the Latin Beat Film Festival. Quoted from ANTARA, details of the screening of the film Like Dendam, Rindu Must be Paid Completely at the Tokyo Film Festival will be announced in early October.

The film, which was adapted from Eka Kurniawan's novel, stars Marthino Lio (as Ajo Kawir), Ladya Cheryl (Iteung), Reza Rahadian (Budi Baik), Ratu Felisha (Jelita) and Sal Priadi (Gecko).

Tells the story of Ajo Kawir, a hero who is not afraid to die. His great desire to fight is fueled by a secret — he is impotent. When faced with a formidable female fighter named Iteung, Ajo is battered and turned upside down — he falls in love.

In addition to Like Revenge, Longing Must Be Paid Completely, World Focus also aired "The Box" from Lorenzo Vigas, "Libertad" from Clara Roquet, "Veneciafrenia" from lex de la Iglesia, "Il Buco" from Michelangelo Frammartino, "Murina" from Antoneta Kusijanović addresses, "Swan Song" from Todd Stephens and "Terrorizers" from Ho Wi Ding.

In August 2021, Edwin's film managed to bring home the Golden Leopard, the main prize of the international competition session (Concorso Internazionale) held by the 2021 Locarno International Film Festival.

Edwin is the first Indonesian to win the Golden Leopard, the highest award ever won by directors of world caliber such as Stanley Kubrick, Mike Leigh, Jafar Panahi, and Jim Jarmusch. In addition, in the last five years, this is the first time an Indonesian feature film has won the grand prize at a prestigious European festival.
