JAKARTA - Daniel Craig thought his role as James Bond would end in "Spectre", but his fifth appearance as a British secret agent in the new film "No Time To Die" allowed him to complete 007's journey in its entirety.

Nearly 60 years after the first Bond film "Dr No" premiered, the film world's favorite secret agent known for his high-speed cars and cool cutting-edge gadgets is finally back in his 25th film next week after an 18-month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 19.

With a production cost of around 200 million US dollars (approximately Rp. 2.8 trillion), "No Time To Die" tells James Bond returns from a beautiful life of retirement in Jamaica to help find a new villain armed with deadly technology.

"I didn't think I'd be doing another movie after 'Spectre'. I used to really think I was going to be... done," Craig told Reuters on Sunday.

"But I'm happy to have the opportunity to make this film. And we finished things that weren't finished. We tried to tell a story through the Bond films that I starred in. It seemed like everything was connected and this one was really the ultimate," he was quoted as saying. from ANTARA.

With a duration of almost three hours, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, this film promises all the usual Bond action, car chases and action-packed scenes against stunning backdrops, including the Italian city of Matera.

"No Time To Die" introduces a new character named Nomi, played by black actress Lashana Lynch who is described as agent 00 in the MI6 organization. He looks just as tough and capable as Bond.

"He's also human. He's a down-to-earth person, comes from a great background and takes every opportunity that presents itself and takes it. He really changed everything at MI6 and will continue to do so," said Lynch.

"This is a breakthrough for black women, for my culture," she said.

French actress Lea Seydoux returns as Madeleine Swann who appeared in "Spectre" (2015).

"Cary wants to explore Madeleine's character more deeply.. She is the heart of this film and her relationship with Bond is further developed," said Seydoux.

Rami Malek also joins the James Bond films as the antagonist Safin.

"I looked at almost every villain in film history to prepare for this," he said in the official James Bond film broadcast.

After being postponed three times since it was scheduled to premiere in April 2020, "No Time To Die" finally premiered in London last Tuesday.

"I really enjoyed everything... There are always difficulties but there's always a fight for something worthwhile so it feels good," said Craig, who started as James Bond since "Casino Royal" in 2006.

"I'm so grateful to be given the opportunity to do so... for all the great memories and times... working with fantastic and amazing people... it changed my life... it's been amazing."
