Mezzaluna Marks Musical Career With In Situ

JAKARTA - The record label Sony Music Entertainment launched their sub-label, Offmute and at the same time introduced a singer named Mezzaluna. Thursday, September 23, Mezzaluna marked her music career by releasing a song called In Situ.

This song was written by Mez while doing a school project but the music and production began to develop this year. In Situ is a song that tells about a person who doesn't receive a response from his partner so he just contemplates in despair. The music video is directed by Deby Sucha with a gloomy and dark atmosphere and fits the song.

Judging by the tone, Mez is influenced by alternative and folk singers such as Amy Winehouse, Danilla, Vira Talisa, Sal Priadi and others.

"The genre of music is different from what my father made, because we missed one (generation), I believe in presenting everything for my own generation," said Mez at the online release of In Situ.

Mezzaluna is the son of Bimbim, a member of the band Slank who follows in his father's footsteps in music but they claim to be different in terms of genre.

Bimbim explained that he had never influenced Mez in music. “Mezzaluna has never directly taught me to make music. From six months, I have been participating in Slank around, going on stage, "explained Bimbim.

He said he was proud because his son was able to develop In Situ, which was originally for a school project, into a song. Being a singer is also a challenge for Mez considering that so far he has only been studying.

“The new thing for me is to be consistent and focused. So far, the focus has been on my own education and now it is divided into two,” said Mez.

Carrying the name of his father, Bimbim advised to enjoy every musical journey. "No matter what happens, Bimbim's child will still be able to enjoy it, don't be a burden, don't be ashamed. Don't be afraid to bring your father's big name."
