Many Await Saipul Jamil's Freedom, Warganet: How Are Child Predators Welcomed

JAKARTA - Saipul Jamil will be released on September 2 from the Cipinang Class 1 Penitentiary. Dewi Persikk's ex-husband was freed purely by carrying out all the sentences he received for two cases, namely sexual harassment and attempts to bribe the prosecutor.

The return of this dangdut singer has been welcomed by fellow artists as well as several media. In fact, there are media that make special reports for Saipul Jamil.

Dorce Gamalama composed the song Human Ordinary which was released on the Dorce Tube YouTube channel on August 19. In Dorce's Instagram, Betharia Sonata also encouraged Saipul Jamil.

Instagram @saipuljamilreal also started to get boisterous by netizens' comments. When uploading a video of Indah Sari making a video call with Saipul Jamil, netizens responded with pros and cons.

However, there are those who deplore the many welcomes for Saipul Jamil. "Why are child predators welcomed like heroes," wrote @dajjal.official.

"Wkwkwkwk only criminals in Indonesia are welcomed...there are even more jobs," wrote faisalazis13 in Saipul Jamil's Instagram comment column.

As a reminder, Saipul Jamil's career collapsed when a young man with the initials DS who was then 17 years old reported him on charges of sexual harassment and obscenity. The case occurred in 2016. In 2016, Saipul Jamil was imprisoned for committing child molestation.

On June 14, 2016 Chief Judge Ifa Sudewi read out the verdict for Saipul Jamil. The man who is familiarly called Bang Ipul was found guilty and sentenced to 3 years in prison which turned out to be lighter than the public prosecutor's demands, which was seven years in prison.

When undergoing trial related to the obscenity case, it was revealed that there was bribery of the court clerk, Rohadi. The bribe was to lighten Saipul Jamil's sentence. In that case, Saipul Jamil was sentenced to three years in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court in 2017.
