Kris Wu Detained In Beijing For Rape Case

JAKARTA - Actor and musician Kris Wu has been officially arrested on suspicion of rape. According to the Global Times, today, August 17, the news of Kris Wu's arrest was confirmed by the Chaoyang District Procuratorate the day before.

On July 31, Kris Wu was detained by the Beijing police after being claimed to have raped a 19-year-old woman named Du Meizhu. Apart from Du Meizhu, there were several other victims who were minors.

Despite denying all the accusations, the brands that appointed Kris Wu as the ambassador ended the collaboration, including Louis Vuitton, Porsche, Kans, and others. His social media accounts as well as his music releases were also deleted.

In the middle of the investigation process, someone claimed that Kris Wu took similar actions while in the United States. This woman has asked for legal assistance and sued the actor.

This woman admitted that she was not yet 18 years old when she attended the Kris Wu fan meeting in Los Angeles. Apart from Du Meizhu and women from the US, more than 20 women testified about the sexual harassment by Kris Wu.

Kris Wu started his career with the group EXO in 2012. Two years later, he decided to leave due to his contract with SM Entertainment. They ended the conflict by declaring the contract to run until 2022.

Since then, Kris Wu has made a solo career by releasing music albums and playing in a number of dramas and films.
