Rachel Maryam Appreciates President Jokowi's Commitment To Build A Democratic Climate, Sings Criticism Through Murals

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia Rachel Maryam appreciated the state speech and the 2022 RAPBN delivered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the MPR RI Annual Session and the 2021 Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI in Jakarta, Monday, August 16.

President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to all the nation's children who have become part of active citizens and continue to participate in building a democratic culture. The President realizes that there are many criticisms of the government, especially on matters that the government has not been able to resolve.

The President also said constructive criticism is important and the government will respond by fulfilling responsibilities as the people expect.

"I really appreciate Pak Jokowi's speech, especially in his commitment to building a democratic climate in this country," Rachel said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday.

Rachel hopes that the state speech delivered by the President can be applied in the life of the nation and not just a narrative.

"So that in the future there will be no need to put pressure on anyone who wants to convey criticism and input to the government. Everyone is free to express their criticisms and suggestions through the media of writing, songs, jokes, mural images, and so on, the important thing is not to be anarchic," he said.

Rachel also appreciated the six main focuses in the speech of the 2022 RAPBN delivered by the President. For example, one of the points stated that the government will continue efforts to control COVID-19 while still prioritizing the health sector.

He hoped that what was conveyed through President Jokowi's speech was actually realized factually. "I in the DPR will support and encourage this main focus to work," said Rachel Maryam.
