Kartika Putri's Defense When Accused Of Masterminding The Arrest Of Dr Richard Lee

JAKARTA - Netizens accused Kartika Putri of being the cause of the arrest of Dr Richard Lee at his residence in Palembang, on Wednesday, August 11. Actually, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the arrest was not due to an alleged defamation case, but a case of alleged illegal access.

"Based on the results of the investigation, it was found that the illegal access and theft of what was in the account became evidence. This was done by RL (Richard Lee) himself," said Yusri, Thursday, August 12.

However, the arrest did have something to do with the alleged defamation case. Because, dr. Richard Lee is said to have intentionally deleted the upload on his Instagram account. In fact, the @dr.richard_lee account has been designated as evidence in the alleged defamation case.

"On the 9th yesterday, based on the results of the investigation, the evidence in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya had illegal access to an account that had become evidence from investigators. Based on the confiscation from the South Jakarta District Court at that time on June 8, 2021," said Yusri.

So, in this case dr. Richard Lee has been named a suspect and arrested. In addition, he was also charged with Article 30 in conjunction with the ITE Law and Article 231 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 221 of the Criminal Code.

However, netizens still blamed Kartika Putri. The name Kartika Putri was trending on Twitter, Thursday 12 August. Not wanting to be blamed, Kartika Putri also uploaded screenshots showing various comments from netizens on her Instagram Stories.

Karput highlighted one of the accounts accusing him of giving bribes to the police to arrest the doctor. "Oops oops karput... Look at the police how many million sii (shut up emojis)," commented @aynch_lee.

While circling the comment, Kartika also explained that the arrest occurred because of the doctor's own fault, it had nothing to do with him, "Even though it has been explained that he was arrested because of a mistake made by the suspect himself," replied Kartika Putri.

Habib Usman's wife advised not to spread slander. "You can defend yourself, but don't slander, let alone lead opinions and hoaxes of an official state institution," Kartika Putri continued.
