Chanting The End And Beginning Of The Islamic New Year 1443 H

JAKARTA - Every 1st of Muharram is marked as the Islamic new year and this year, the celebration of 1st Muharram falls on 10 August 2021. To welcome the blessed Islamic new year, it would be nice if we said the end and the beginning of the year prayers. The end of the year prayer is read before entering the Islamic new year and the beginning of the year prayer is read after the Maghrib prayer enters the 1st of Muharram.

The following is the reading of the prayer that was said by the Prophet Muhammad on the Islamic New Year and its meaning, as written in the Book of Maslakul Akhyar by Habib Sayyid Uthman bin Yahya, quoted from Suara Monday, August 9.

End of Year Prayer

Bismilaahir-rahmaanir-rahiim, Wa shallallaahu 'ala sayyidinaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa aalihi wa shahbihii wa sallam. Allahumma maa 'amiltu fi haadzihis-sanati mimmaa nahaitani 'anhu falam atub minhu wa lam tardhahu wa lam tansahu wa halamta 'alayya ba'da qudratika 'alaa uquubati wa da'autani ilattaubati minhu ba'da jursiyatika faa mani' astaghfiruka fagfirlii wa maa 'amiltu fiihaa mimma tardhaahu wa wa'adtani 'alaihits-tsawaaba fas'alukallahumma yaa kariimu yaa dzal-jalaali wal ikram an tataqabbalahuu minni wa laa taqtha' rajaai minka yayyayyina, wa sallainayyayihu alaa 'aalihii wa sahbihii wa sallam.

Meaning: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May Allah continue to bestow mercy and greetings on our lord and prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. O Allah, what am I doing this year about something that You forbade me to do , then have not repented, even though You are not pleased, do not forget and You are gentle with me after You have the power to torture me and You call me to repent after I have disobeyed You, so I really ask You for forgiveness, forgive me!

And whatever I have done from something that You are pleased with and You have promised me a reward, then I ask You, O Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Sublime, the Noble Essence, accept my offering and do not give up my hope from You, O Essence. The Most Gracious! May Allah continue to bestow mercy and greetings on our lord Muhammad and his family and companions."

Early Year Prayers

Allahumma antal eternalyyul qadimul awwal. Wa 'ala fadhlikal 'azhimi wa karimi judikal mu'awwal. Hadza 'amun Jadidun Qad Aqbal. As'alukal 'ishmata fîhi minas syaithani wa auliya'ih, wal 'auna 'ala hadzihin nafsil ammarati bis su'I, wal isytighala bima yuqarribuni ilaika zulfa, ya dzal jalali wal ikram.

Meaning: "My Lord, You are the Eternal, the Qadim, and the Beginning. By Your great bounty and Your glorious mercy, You are the door of hope. This new year has arrived. I seek refuge in You from the temptations of Satan and his saints in this year. I also hope for Your help in overcoming the lust that often drives me to be evil. To You, I ask for guidance so that my daily activities bring me closer to Your grace. O Lord of Greatness and Glory.
