JAKARTA - A few days after apologizing for driving drunk, Im Youngmin decided to leave the AB6IX group. Monday, June 8, Brand New Music confirmed it through an official statement.
"After discussing further with AB6IX member Im Youngmin, Im Youngmin's departure from AB6IX was decided today honoring his wish not to harm the group."
Brand New Music also apologized to all fans, especially the production team who worked on the album because of this situation.
"AB6IX will continue to promote with four members and we will further contribute to support AB6IX in the future," continued the statement.
Previously, on May 31, Youngmin reportedly drove drunk. After being confirmed, Youngmin decided not to promote for AB6IX's comeback. In fact, he wrote his apology letter in person.
But today, Youngmin opted out. AB6IX's comeback was postponed from June 8 to June 29.
Im Youngmin was known for the first time when he was a finalist in Produce 101 season 2. At that time he had stumbled into controversy because he was rumored to have a lover and accidentally leaked the competition song.
Not getting into the last line-up, his agency chose Youngmin to debut in the MXM duo. The positive response given by fans made Brand New Music add Youngmin to the AB6IX group as a leader in the group.
Currently, AB6IX is preparing for a comeback titled VIVID. A number of teasers have been released through the group's social media.
