JAKARTA - Netflix will present a new film titled Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens.

Through a virtual press conference, the cast of Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens shared their experiences during filming. Starting from adaptation to bonding, everything is done for this film.

Prior to filming, they stayed for a week to blend in like the people of New York.

“There is indeed a week of being a new yorker. The fun goes fast like any other new yorker. Being immigrants and really going to Queens so we feel from there,” said Asri Welas.

However, the adaptation process was not carried out in New York alone. They have established a close relationship with each other since the production process had not yet started.

"2 years from the script, there is no script until there is a continuous bonding process." Happy Salma said.

Iqbaal Ramadhan agreed with the same feeling as the main character. According to him, the female side shown in the film was the reason he wanted to play in Ali & Ratu Ratus Queens.

“The four characters played by these aunts (Happy Salma, Tika Panggabean, Nirina Zubir, Asri Welas) have layers. Like, yes Asri Welas is funny but she's not just funny, there are layers that I think are interesting," he said.

Directed by Lucky Kuswandi, Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens focuses on Ali (Iqbaal Ramadhan), a 19-year-old boy who chooses to go to New York to find his mother. There, Ali meets four immigrant women living in Queens: Party (Nirina Zubir), Biyah (Asri Welas), Ance (Tika Panggabean), and Chinta (Happy Salma).

Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens movie can be watched starting June 17th exclusively on Netflix.
