Travis Kelce Leaves Chiefs Minicamp for Taylor Swift

JAKARTA - Travis Kelce flew to New York to accompany Taylor Swift in one of the most important nights of her music career. Citing a report from People, Friday, June 12, the Kansas City Chiefs player left the team's minicamp early so he could be present when Swift was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Minicamp is an NFL team's short training program before the competition season begins. Kelce, 36, is a tight end, an offensive player who is tasked with catching passes while also helping block in American football games.

The event was held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, New York, on Thursday, June 11. Kelce arrived on time and sat down with Swift, who is also 36 years old. They were accompanied by their respective mothers, Andrea Swift and Donna Kelce.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame is an award-giving institution for songwriters who are considered to have made great contributions to the music industry. Swift was inducted into the 2026 class and became the youngest woman to ever receive the award.

The minicamp schedule kept Kelce out as Swift watched the fourth game of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10.

Even though he wasn't there in person, Kelce still signaled support. After the game, he liked a number of Instagram posts featuring Swift at Madison Square Garden.

In this year's event, Swift officially entered the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Walter Afanasieff, Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS, Kenny Loggins, Alanis Morissette, and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart.

According to the Songwriters Hall of Fame website, the overall youngest record holder is still held by Stevie Wonder. He was 32 years old when he received the award in 1983.

Swift submitted a number of songs for consideration this year, namely "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)", "Blank Space", "Anti-Hero", "Love Story", and "The Last Great American Dynasty".

People wrote that Swift got her first nomination as a songwriter with an important catalog eligible for induction 20 years after the first commercial release of her song.

This achievement adds to Swift's list of achievements after winning 14 Grammys. He was inducted into the 2026 class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame thanks to the catalog of songs he has built since the beginning of his career.
