JAKARTA - The Bali International Film Festival or Balinale enters its 19th edition which will be officially held on June 1-7, 2026. Based at Icon Bali Mall, this festival once again celebrates global cinema with a variety of film choices.

This year, Balinale presents 94 films from 38 countries consisting of 20 World Premieres, 10 International Premieres, 26 Asian Premieres. Viewers can access various films at four points, namely Icon Bali Mall, Cinema XXI, The Meru Sanur, Bali Beach Hotel.

The film Euphoria by director Julian Rosefeldt (Germany, Ukraine, Bulgaria, United States) was chosen as the opening film of the festival.

The End, directed by Joshua Lincoln Oppenheimer (Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, England, Sweden, United States) will be the closing film.

This festival also feels different with the new award, namely Best Indonesian Short Tapestry of Indonesia. This category is an appreciation for various stories from Indonesia.

Every year, various programs presented at Balinale showcase a blend of perspectives and dynamics in contemporary cinema that is now in demand by the Indonesian public.

In addition, various filmmakers from the country and internationally also became the jury for various categories that competed in Balinale, ranging from Yosep Anggi Noen (Indonesia), Eros Zhao (United States), Joseph J.U. Taylor (New Zealand), Marcella Zalianty, Annissa Nurul Shanty Kusuma Wardhani Heryadiem Richard Todd (Australia).

Then, there is I Made Denny Chrisna Putra (Indonesia), Denise Castelli (Italy), Nirartha Bas Diwangkara (Indonesia), David Hanan (Australia) as well as Donna Smith and Dr. Lawrence Blair as jury advisors.
