'I Must Die' Film's Team Confirms Title Has Passed LSF and Brings a Message to Satirize the Culture of Flexing

JAKARTA - The title of the film 'I Must Die' has recently become the focus of sharp criticism because it is considered provocative. In response to this, the Head of Creative Strategic Promotion of the film, Iwet Ramadhan, provided clarification regarding the origin of the title selection.

"We took this title from a dialogue in the film. And that dialogue is a dialogue that we present to convey a message," explained Iwet Ramadhan via video call, Monday, April 6.

Furthermore, Iwet emphasized that this film actually carries a strong social criticism against the hedonistic lifestyle and the culture of showing off that is rampant.

"Don't let us flex on social media, it looks like a hedonistic life, but it turns out to be selling souls for money. That's the scene there. That's why it's watched first," he said.

Regarding licensing, Iwet ensured that the title and the film's material did not violate legal rules because they had passed through the Film Censorship Agency's (LSF) strict review.

"The greatest appreciation for the Film Censorship Agency because they have carried out a very thorough evaluation process for this title. And this title has received permission to be shown," said Iwet.

Apart from the broadcast permit, all outdoor advertising materials that had been installed at dozens of points were also confirmed to be legally valid.

"Regarding being taken to public spaces, we have also stored permission to bring our promo material to public spaces. So the permission is already there," he added.

The horror genre was deliberately chosen as a medium for delivering social messages because it has the highest audience appeal in Indonesia.

"Horror films are the medium that is closest to the community and most liked by the community, so it's definitely a very wide reach," concluded the figure who made his debut in this film as a producer representative.
