JAKARTA - The X-Files reboot project by Ryan Coogler is beginning to see light. Citing Entertainment Weekly, Thursday, April 2, the original actress of the series, Gillian Anderson, said the script for the pilot episode was very good and asked fans to give this new version a chance.

Anderson revealed that he had spoken to Coogler several times. According to the cast of Dana Sculyy in the original series, Coogler is not only a talented director, but also has his own way of reviving the series.

"The pilot script is very good. Open your mind and give it a chance, because the result will be very cool," Anderson said at the Awesome Con event as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

He added, this reboot project feels different and has something special. Therefore, fans are asked not to rush to make judgments just because this series comes with a new face.

The new version of The X-Files, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly, has been in development since 2023. Streaming platform Hulu last month officially approved the creation of the pilot episode. Actress Danielle Deadwyler, known for Station Eleven, is confirmed to star in the project. Even so, Deadwyler's presence does not mean that Anderson has completely left the project circle.

Previously, Coogler also signaled that he still hoped Anderson could be involved. Last year, the Sinners director said that the X-Files reboot had long made him enthusiastic. He even promised several episodes that, if done properly, would be really creepy.

Coogler said he wanted to make something that was strong for old fans of The X-Files, while also being interesting enough to attract new audiences. That's not a small target. Especially since the series has a legacy that is not light.

The X-Files first aired in 1993 on Fox and was created by Chris Carter. The series stars Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully and David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, two FBI agents investigating strange cases with paranormal elements. Scully is known to be skeptical. Mulder, on the other hand, believes in things beyond reason and conspiracy theories.

The series lasted for nine seasons, then returned with two more seasons in 2016 and 2018. The franchise also spawned two feature films.
