Keenan Nasution Files Appeal, Vidi Aldiano's Party Responds

JAKARTA - The family of the late Vidi Aldiano and his father, Harry Kiss, breathed a sigh of relief. Through his lawyer, Yakup Hasibuan, they announced a landslide victory over three lawsuits filed by Keenan Nasution at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court.

The verdict, which was read on November 19, 2025, stated that all the accusations addressed to the late Vidi Aldiano and his father, Harry Kiss, were not proven.

"We, as lawyers for Alm. Vidi Aldiano and Mr. Harry Kiss, have won three separate lawsuits filed by Mr. Keenan Nasution's party," said Yakup Hasibuan in his statement to the media, Thursday, March 19.

According to Yakup, this victory is a confirmation that his client has never committed any legal violations as alleged.

"This proves that their lawsuit is unfounded and does not conform to existing legal facts," he continued.

Although he had lost at the Commercial Court level, Keenan Nasution's party was rumored to continue legal efforts by filing an appeal to the Supreme Court (MA). In response to this, Yakup said he was not afraid and respected the legal rights of the plaintiff.

However, he believes that the results at the Supreme Court will not be much different from the previous decision.

"Please, because it is their right. Even though as a lawyer, we believe that the cassation will be rejected by the Constitutional Court because the lawsuit is very unfounded, absurd, and not in accordance with the legal facts," said Yakup.

One of the strong points that became the basis for Vidi Aldiano's legal argument is the Constitutional Court (MK) Decision No. 28/2025. The decision provides clarity regarding who is actually responsible for paying royalties in a performance.

Yakup explained that legally, the obligation to pay royalties is on the shoulders of the event organizer, not the singer.

"The Supreme Court's decision No. 28/2025 confirms that the party who has the obligation to pay royalties is the organizer of the performance, and not the singer," he added.

For information, the dispute between Vidi's party and musician Keenan Nasution has long been in the spotlight regarding the iconic song that made Vidi Aldiano's name, Nuansa Bening.

Keenan, the original creator of the song, explicitly said that he objected to the use of the song by Vidi and the management under the auspices of his father, Harry Kiss.

He also filed a lawsuit with the argument of copyright and royalty violations. However, this was immediately denied by the Vidi party that there was a violation of the law and said that all procedures had been carried out in accordance with the provisions.

Now this controversy is waiting for the final decision from the supreme court at the Supreme Court.
