Ahead of the 2026 Cap Go Meh Festival, a number of hotels in Singkawang are full.

JAKARTA - The Head of the Singkawang City Tourism, Youth and Sports Office, Mokhlis, said that a number of hotels in the city of Singkawang were fully booked by tourists ahead of the 2026 Cap Go Meh Festival.

He said that in total there are 47 hotels in Singkawang that are ready to accommodate tourist visits during the Cap Go Meh celebration.

"Of this number, several hotels are already fully booked. Such as Swiss-Belinn Singkawang, Mahkota Singkawang Hotel, Sentosa Singkawang Hotel, Hongkong Inn Singkawang Hotel, Cyndhai Singkawang Hotel, City Room Singkawang Hotel and Bobo Inn Singkawang," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

He explained that although there are still available hotels, the occupancy rate is expected to continue to increase towards the peak of the Cap Go Meh celebration on March 3.

According to Mokhlis, the Cap Go Meh Festival, which is an annual agenda and is known nationally, is predicted to attract a surge in domestic and foreign tourists.

"The momentum of Cap Go Meh always has an impact on increasing tourist visits. This certainly has a positive effect on the economic turnover of the community, ranging from the hospitality sector, culinary, to MSMEs," he said.

The Singkawang City Tourism, Youth and Sports Office appeals to tourists who plan to attend the Cap Go Meh Festival to immediately make room reservations to avoid running out of places to stay.

He added that his party continued to monitor the data on room availability and was ready to help tourists obtain information on hotels that still had capacity.

He assessed that the increase in the occupancy rate of the hotel was a positive indicator of the recovery and growth of the regional tourism sector, as well as strengthening Singkawang's position as a leading destination based on culture and tolerance in West Kalimantan.
