JAKARTA - There is an interesting story behind the shooting process of the World Without God. Comedian and actor Oki Rengga admitted that he had trouble adapting to the style of television acting or soap operas which tend to require greater expression than big screen films.

Oki recounted how he had to repeatedly discuss with the director to find the right expression.

"Honestly, it was difficult at first. Almost a week I kept talking to the director. In the film, maybe the expression doesn't need to be too big, but here we need a stronger expression. This is a challenge for me who is basically a film actor," said Oki in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 12.

Oki's colleague and close friend, Lolox, revealed how serious Oki was in exploring the role in this series. According to Lolox, Oki even fell ill because he thought about the right way to express himself in front of the camera.

"Oki was very difficult on the first day of filming. He was confused about the expression of surprise in the film and soap opera. He even asked for time alone with me to ask how to be angry and surprised correctly. Three days he had a fever thinking about it!" joked Lolox, greeted with laughter from the media crew.

For Lolox, playing in this series gives him a sense of happiness because he can act with Oki, a figure who has accompanied him since the early days of his career. In addition, they also feel proud to be in one project with senior actors such as Eza Yayang and Idruz Madani.

"Before Bang Eza could only watch at school, now I can play together. That's amazing for me," concluded Oki.

The series World Without God is expected to be a spectacle that not only entertains but also provides a new standard of quality for drama series in Indonesia that airs hybrid.

Production house MD Entertainment through its MDTV line has strengthened its collaboration with the global streaming platform, Netflix. This time, the two introduced the latest series titled The World Without God.

This series is the fourth project resulting from the collaboration between MD and Netflix. MD Entertainment CEO, Manoj Punjabi, revealed that this step is part of a new strategy to present high-quality content that can be enjoyed widely, both through conventional television and Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms.

"MD is committed to making better and more content. MDTV's cooperation with Netflix proves that our products are of high quality. We are changing the pattern; if usually the series only has 8 episodes, here the potential can be 30 to 60 episodes but still use the season system," said Manoj Punjabi.

Manoj added that the presence of this series on Netflix also opens the door for international audiences and Indonesian diaspora abroad, such as Singapore and Malaysia, to enjoy the work of the nation.

The soap opera, which will air on February 18, is also starring Amanda Rigby, Eza Yayang, Opie Kumis, and Intan Nuraini.
