Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie's New Film, Wuthering Heights, Will Be Released in Indonesia

JAKARTA - The film Wuthering Heights, which is a new work from Emerald Fennell, will be shown in Indonesia. The film, starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, is inspired by the novel of the same name by Emily Bronte, which is a classic work.

In addition to the two, the film is also played by Hong Chau, Vy Nguyen, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, Ewan Mitchell and others.

Wuthering Heights tells the story of Catherine (Margot Robbie) and her friend Heathcliffe (Jacob Elordi). The two have been best friends since childhood and have feelings for each other.

Although the two have feelings, they never realized that desire because they both come from different social castes. Catherine is a noble family while Heathcliffe comes from a lower class family.

Heathcliffe tries to find profit in the hope of being reunited with Catherine, but it turns out that Catherine is married to wealthy merchant Edgar Linton.

In an interview, director Emerald Fennell explained the reasons he made the film Wuthering Heights and chose Elordi and Robbie as the main cast.

"I wanted to make something that I felt when I first read it, which means it's an emotional response to something," Emerald Fennell said.

The selection of Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie is also said to be different from the book version where Catherine's character is a teenager, while Heathcliffe is a black man.

"I've been thinking about doing (Wuthering Heights) and I think he (Jacob Elordi) is amazing," Fennell explained.

"She (Margot Robbie) is not like anyone I've ever met and that's how I feel about Cathy. It's beautiful, interesting, and surprising and she can go through everything. Cathy is someone who always encourages to see how far she is," he said again.

The film Wuthering Heights will be shown in Indonesian cinemas starting February 11, 2026.
