SAMOSIR - The Ministry of Culture has designated five villages as recipients of the 2025 Village Cultural Appreciation in the culmination of the Village Cultural Development Program in Huta Sinapuran, Simanindo District, Saturday, February 7.
The five villages are Cibaliung Village, Duarato Village, Suak Timah Village, Tanjung Isuy Village, and Tebat Patah Village. They are considered to have successfully built a living and sustainable village cultural ecosystem, rooted in local identity, while providing social, ecological, and economic impacts for the community.
Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said that this appreciation was a form of recognition of the country for villages that were able to make culture as the foundation of development. According to him, the potential of village culture in Indonesia is still very large and this program has only touched a small part of it.
He emphasized that the support of the central government must be in line with the commitment of the local government so that the strengthening of culture runs effectively. On this occasion, Fadli also highlighted the acceleration of the establishment of national level cultural heritages.
"Of the 83 cultural sites that exist at the district level, we will encourage and accelerate so that more can be designated as national cultural sites," he said.
The Village Cultural Development Program has been running since 2021. In 2025, this program will involve 150 villages, after previously reaching more than 550 villages in various regions. The assessment process is carried out in three stages, namely the Meet and Know, Development, and Utilization.
Member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sabam Sinaga, expressed support for the program to continue. Meanwhile, Samosir Regent Vandiko T. Gultom said his area has about 83 district-level cultural reserves and is committed to encouraging an increase in its status to the national level.
