Aming Ungkap Film "Setannya Cuan" Sempat Tertunda Tayang Selama 7 Tahun

JAKARTA - Actor and comedian Aming revealed a surprising fact behind his latest film, "Setannya Cuan". Turns out, this film which will soon be released is a "treasure" that has been kept tightly for about seven years.

"Wah udah 7 tahun ya. Ya akhirnya alhamdulillah tayang juga," ujar Aming di kawasan Jakarta Selatan, Jumat, 23 Januari.

He recalled that the filming process for this film was carried out long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, precisely around 2019.

"(Filming it) Before Covid, right?" he said.

At that time, the film had a different title, namely "Jurig Salawe". The title is very thick with the atmosphere of horror and urban legends from the Sunda tar.

"The original title was Jurig Salawe. Yes, because it's an urban legend, a mystical and horror story from Sunda," he explained.

This new title was chosen to illustrate the dynamics of modern society which is often caught between mystical traditions and economic demands. In this film, the devil is no longer just a figure of terror, but part of the "ecosystem" of human ambition that wants to get rich quickly. Through its relatable characters.

"The audience is invited to see that sometimes, the empty contents of a wallet are much more horrifying than the appearance on the banyan tree," said Sahrul Gibran who, along with Jay Sukmo, directed the film.

However, as time goes by and trends change, the film's title was changed to "Setannya Cuan". This change is intended to make the film feel more relevant to current terms.

Aming himself in this film plays a vegetable vendor. He even remembers very well his physical condition at that time.

"He was a vegetable seller, still very thin," he recalled.

The seven-year delay in the release of this film certainly raises many questions. However, for Aming, the most important thing is that this film can finally be enjoyed by the audience.

Even though it was made seven years ago, Aming is very confident that the story and comedy in this film will still be liked by the public.

"This is if the public is, yes, the public (general), of course they will like it," he said.

Apart from Amin, the film will also feature Nadine Alexandra, Joe P Project, Fico Fachriza, Dimas Andrean, Anyun Cadel, Candil, Ben Kasyafani, Mega Carefansa and others.

"Setannya Cuan" tells the ridiculous rivalry of two village champions who are obsessed with finding hockey numbers to change their fate. However, when the boundaries between the supernatural world and the real world begin to blur and in pursuit of treasure, that working with the devil turns out to have a complicated profit-sharing system. This film is scheduled to be released on March 5, 2026 across all Indonesian cinema networks.
