JAKARTA - The Indonesian Islamic Museum KH Hasyim Asy'ari (MINHA) in Jombang, East Java, reopened with a new face after undergoing a revitalization process.

This update is expected to strengthen the role of museums as a learning space as well as a public dialogue platform that discusses the history and civilization of Islam in Indonesia.

The revitalization process includes rearranging the display layout, adding rooms and thematic zones, as well as strengthening the historical storyline presented to visitors.

The improvement was carried out to provide a more structured, informative, and easy-to-understand visit experience for various groups.

Based on a press release from the Ministry of Culture received in Jakarta on Thursday, MINHA is now equipped with a display room and a systematic visitor flow with a communicative narrative. This presentation is expected to enrich visitors' understanding in tracing the history of Islam in the archipelago.

"Through the reopening of MINHA, we hope that the information about the collection of evidence of the Islamic civilization in Indonesia, from the beginning of the entry of Islam to the period of Indonesian Independence, can be conveyed more fully," said the Head of the Museum and Cultural Heritage Indira Esti Nurjadin.

"The presence of the new face of MINHA is expected not only to complement the function of the museum as a space for storing collections, but also as a space for cultural dialogue, public learning, and a learning house of the history of Islamic civilization which plays a role in strengthening the identity of an inclusive and sustainable nation," he explained.

During the trial period for the implementation of museum services which took place from 13 to 31 January 2026, the MINHA management set the entrance fee at Rp0 for all visitors.

The implementation of the entrance ticket will begin on February 1, 2026 after the trial period for the service ends.

This trial is carried out to ensure the readiness of facilities, service systems, and flow arrangements so that visitors can enjoy the museum safely and comfortably.

The Ministry of Culture emphasized its commitment to continue to encourage the strengthening of the role of museums, not only as a place to preserve cultural heritage, but also as a center for public education and an inclusive dialogue medium.
