Jamie Lee Curtis is grateful to be banned by parents from auditioning for "The Exorcist"

JAKARTA - Jamie Lee Curtis recently admitted that he almost had a career as a child actress. He almost auditioned for The Exorcist and made his acting debut.

When he was present at the Drew Barrymore event, Curtis admitted that the producer wanted him to audition for the 1973 film, but his mother, Janet Leigh, forbade him from auditioning.

"He (the producer) called my mom and said 'Hello, I'm making a movie from The Exorcist book. Can you let Jamie audition?'" recalled Jamie Lee Curtis on The Drew Barrymore Show.

"And I was 12 at the time and looked cute, sassy, had my own side and I'm sure he saw me at a party and thought 'I guess she's funny' but my mum said 'No' she said.

He was upset when he was banned, but after a long career, he was grateful that his mother banned him from auditioning. He felt that his mother wanted him to have a pleasant childhood and not experience trauma.

"My mom really wanted me, thank God, the childhood I understand you don't get. You don't get that choice. People don't come forward and say "No, she's going to have a childhood. She's going to have that protection," said Jamie Lee Curtis.

Drew Barrymore, who was his interlocutor, debuted as an actress at the age of 7 through the film E.T. The Extra-Terrestial in 1982.

Jamie Lee Curtis debuted as an actress at the age of 19 through the film Halloween in 1978. After that, he was known for various horror films and built his career in that genre.
