JAKARTA - Police are appealing to visitors to the Old City, Tamansari, West Jakarta, to increase supervision of their children while traveling in the cultural heritage area during the Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays.
The appeal was issued following a three-year-old boy who was separated from his parents on Friday night.
"Especially parents, so that they are always alert and increase supervision of their children when they are in crowded places, especially in tourist areas with many visitors," said the Head of the Metro Tamansari Police, AKBP Riyanto when confirmed in Jakarta, Friday evening.
Riyanto said the incident of the missing child occurred at around 18.30 WIB. At that time, the child's parents came to the Lilin Jaya 2025 Operation Security Post in Old Town to report that their child was lost in the middle of the Old Town area.
"Officers who were on duty immediately moved quickly to search around the location with great caution," said Riyanto.
The child was finally found in a safe condition around the north gate of Jakarta Kota Station.
"Alhamdulillah, the search yielded results. The child was found and we immediately handed him back to his parents," he said.
It is recorded that the number of visitors to the Old City has reached 15,318 people, with 15,009 domestic tourists and 309 foreign tourists.
