Alan Cumming has been appointed as the new presenter for the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards. The committee announced that the actor would replace David Tennant, who had been the host for the past two years.

The BAFTA Film Awards are an award to appreciate filmmakers and people behind the scenes as well as being one of the most prestigious awards in England. BAFTA 2026 will be held on February 22, 2026 at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

The committee also released a photo of Alan Cumming with a BAFTA trophy, indicating the new presenter who will host the event.

"It's so exciting to be back at BAFTA. This time it's hosting the BAFTA Film Awards, an evening where we celebrate creativity and also hopefully enjoy a laugh like we did," said Alan Cumming.

BAFTA's executive director, Emma Baehr, explained that Alan Cumming was chosen because the actor had a soul and uniqueness.

"With his playful banter and infectious energy, we're excited Alan Cumming will host this year's BAFTA Film Awards. As we celebrate bringing stories to the screen, we know Alan will deliver a night full of laughs, surprises full of magic and maybe some incredible outfits," said Emma Baehr, quoted by Hollywood Reporter.

The first round of the BAFTA Film Awards began since December 5 to select the list before the nominations are announced on January 27.
