JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture has determined 85 National Heritage Sites for 2025 which originate from 27 provinces. This determination makes the total national heritage sites that have been recognized by the state since 2013 reach 313 sites.

The certificate handover was carried out in the National Cultural Heritage Appreciation 2025 at the Ministry of Culture, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12). Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that this determination was not a ceremony, but an alarm for local governments to move quickly to protect and utilize cultural heritage in a concrete manner.

According to Fadli, the key to acceleration lies in the precise data collection and active work with the Cultural Heritage Expert Team (TACB). He encouraged the addition of national level TACB so that the verification and determination process is not stalled.

"The approach must be multidisciplinary. We need archaeologists, anthropologists, architects, to geographers so that the record is faster and more accurate," said Fadli.

He also emphasized that cultural heritage is upstream of the cultural economy. If managed seriously, cultural heritage can encourage creative economy, MSMEs, IP, culinary, to tourism without sacrificing historical values.

Fadli emphasized that the responsibility for preservation does not stop with the government. The public-private partnership scheme needs to be expanded so that the private sector is involved in responsible utilization, ranging from the management of the area to derivative products.

Some cultural heritage sites designated this year include the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Aceh, the Maimoon Palace in Medan, the Gadang Clock Tower in Bukittinggi, the Tanjung Priok Station in Jakarta, the Sonobudoyo Museum in Yogyakarta, the Taman Ayun Temple in Bali, and the Tutari Megalithic in Papua.

This determination confirms the direction of the Ministry of Culture's policy: cultural heritage is not a burden of the past, but a strategic asset of the future that must be maintained, revived, and have a real impact on the region and the community.
