JAKARTA - ILLIT agency, BELIFT LAB sued a NewJeans fan group on social media called Team Bunnies. They sued for up to 100 million Won which was reported in the Seoul court on December 11.
Quoting Chosun Daily, BELIFT LAB sued the owner of the Team Bunnies account and the parents who were considered to be supervising their child. They demanded compensation for the false upload claiming ILLIT plagiarized NewJeans.
Team Bunnies is a group of fans on X who actively share posts. In their statement last year, they explained that their team consists of various people working in different industries.
Due to this lawsuit, it was revealed that Team Bunnies was managed by someone under the age of 18.
Team Bunnies reported BELIFT LAB CEO Kim Tae Ho for the first time in November 2024 after media statements about his group. Tae Ho said the plan documents for ILLIT and NewJeans were different.
"Although we mention that we have recordings and documents of the plan, we regret that BELIFT LAB management not only admits the mistake but changes the situation," Team Bunnies said in its lawsuit.
The court itself emphasized in the lawsuit of HYBE and Min Hee Jin that it was difficult to find a concept of ILLIT following NewJeans.
Team Bunnies also admitted that they received donations of up to 50 million Won which were used to sue those who wrote bad comments about NewJeans. However, they were investigated because the donations received were used through channels that did not comply with the rules.
"We are being investigated by the Jongam Police in Seoul. This case should have ended in early September after the Seoul Court declared the donation for a good cause," said Team Bunnies.
Meanwhile, BELIFT LAB has not commented on their lawsuit.
