JAKARTA - In an effort to strengthen understanding of population as the foundation of national development, the Ministry of Population and Family Development (BKKBN) together with UNFPA Indonesia held the Dissemination of the Indonesian Population Report (LKI), Provincial Population Report (LKP), Population Development Index (IPBK), and Population Issue Awareness Index (IKIK) for 2025.

This activity is a strategic momentum in line with the implementation of the Population Development Roadmap (PJPK) 2025-2029, which aims to support data-based planning and policies at the national and provincial levels.

Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasized that the population report not only contains statistical data, but also serves as a guide in determining the direction of human resource development policies.

"Today we present the data in the form of the Indonesian Population Report, the Provincial Population Report, and there are also several indexes so that later the ministries, regional governments, and all related stakeholders have a database to determine what must be done. This data is very important to determine strategic steps so that we can continue and achieve the vision of Indonesia's Gold 2045," said Isyana when met in the Mega Kuningan area, Setiabudi, South Jakarta on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Isyana added that various government programs, ranging from Free Nutritious Meals, People's Schools, Garuda Schools, Free Health Checks, to National Internships, are comprehensive efforts to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources.

Population data is the foundation for adjusting policies in each province so that each area can formulate strategic steps according to local conditions.

Deputy for Population Control of BKKBN, Bonivasius Prasetya Ichtiarto explained the main factors that affect national and provincial population growth.

"If we talk about population growth, one of them is family planning, contraceptives, and availability of family planning. Economic factors also greatly influence, some want to add children but have economic difficulties. Maintaining balance is important. Not too much, but not too little. Indonesia currently has a TFR of 2.11 which is the replacement rate, but each region is different, so the occupation policy must also be different," he explained.

TFR (Total Fertility Rate) or total fertility rate is an important indicator in mapping population growth and planning appropriate policies at the regional level, so that population growth remains balanced and supports national development.

The role of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is very important in supporting the implementation of the population report.

"UNFPA focuses on population dynamics around the world and supports governments in research, data production, and population-related policy regulation. We are proud to be partners with BKKBN, BPS, and other ministries in supporting population dynamics in Indonesia," explained Hassan Mohtashami, UNFPA Country Representative.

Collaboration between the government, academics, civil society organizations, and development partners such as UNFPA ensures the use of population data for the formulation of appropriate, effective, and sustainable policies.
