Writer Sophie Kinsella Dies, Isla Fisher Makes Tributes

JAKARTA - pop writer Sophie Kinsella passed away on Wednesday, December 10 local time. The author of 'Confessions of a Shopahholic' is battling brain cancer to death in the morning as reported by the family.

"We are saddened to announce the sad news of the death of our beloved Sophie (aka Maddy, aka Mumm). She died peacefully in a day filled with true love: family and music and comfort and Christmas and happiness," said the family.

Sophie Kinsella, who announced she fought glioblastoma for two years, found her cancer untreatable. Although the situation is complicated, she remains committed to writing books about her experience.

Following the announcement, actress Isla Fisher made a tribute to writer Sophie Kinsella who is a writer for the Confessions of a Shopaholic and the film version is a major draw in Fisher's career.

Isla Fisher plays Rebecca Bloomwood in the film Confessions of a Shopaholic adapted from the Kinsella novel.

"You brought Rebecca Bloomwood to life, a dream from an amazing character and I was lucky to follow in her footsteps and talk about your brilliant words," Isla Fisher wrote in Instagram Story.

"My children grew up reading my story and loving him to this day. My heart is sad. You are still my hero and I thank you. Even though we don't meet again, your light and wonder will live in your characters," he said.

Kinsella, whose real name is Madeleine Wickham, died at the age of 55. He also used his real name to become a writer.

His last book, What Doesn't It Feel Like? contains about his experience of living with cancer.
