JAKARTA - Director from Japan, Hirokazu Koreda will adapt the best-selling manga, Tatik Fujimoto's Look Back in a live-action film. The film is scheduled to air at the end of 2026.

For the first time, Fujimoto's work is adapted on the big screen. Look Back tells the story of two women who are trying to realize their dreams of becoming a manga artist. This film is the latest work of Koreeda which has entered the post-production stage in Nikako, Japan.

Apart from Look Back, Koreda is also working on the film Sheep in the Box.

Launching Variety, the Palme d'Or winner explained that he first saw the book Look Back when he was at Shinagawa station, Japan. He read it and was impressed by the manga's story.

"Although manga and film are different genres, as fellow creators, I am interested in working on this," said Hirokazu Koreeda.

This manga was done by Tathi Fujimoto, who was previously known as the Chainsaw Man manga and sold 34 million in sales worldwide.

Look Back is the manga first published in Shonen Jump + in 2021. On the first day of release, this manga has read more than 2.5 million.
