Junub Prayer After Having Intimate Relationship, When to Read It?

YOGYAKARTA - In Islam, it is taught that after a married couple has sexual intercourse, they must perform a mandatory bath or also called a junub bath. In daily life, bathing is mandatory at least in two conditions, namely after having contact with the body and after women go through their menstrual period. Nawaitul-ghusla lirafil ḫadatsil-akbari minal-jinâbati fardlan lillâhi ta‘ala

"I intend to take a bath to remove the big hadats from janabah, fardhu because Allah ta'ala."

How to Wash Junub from Prayer

Junub bathing is not much different from bathing in general. It's just that in junub bathing there are intentions and prayers that need to be uttered. Here are the procedures for junub bathing.

Clean the genitals with clean running water

Before taking a junub bath, it is recommended to wash your hands three times. After that, clean the dirt on the body that is visible to the eye. Don't forget to clean the genitals with clean running water. This cleaning is necessary to ensure that no more madzi comes out of the genitals.

Take wudhu

This second stage is necessary to clean the minor hadas which if still attached to the body. You can do wudhu as usual and read the prayer.

Reading intentions and pouring water on the body

The next step is to pour water on the body while reading the obligatory bath prayer in your heart. The intention is read when you first pour water on your body. Water spraying can start anywhere, from the head, hands, or other body parts.

If you forget to say the intention of obligatory bathing, then the limbs must be sprinkled again with water because the first sprinkling is considered invalid.

This watering is a form of caution because if there is a body part that has not been sprayed, it is considered still having a bath even though the obligatory bath has been completed.
