So Impromptu Sinden, Celine Evangelista Admits It's More Difficult Than Being A Comedian: The Memorization Is Lost

JAKARTA - Actress Celine Evangelista faces one of the toughest challenges in her career when she has to play the character of a sinden in the horror film "Danyang Wingit Friday Kliwon".

He openly admits that exploring the role of a sinden is much more difficult than other roles he has played, even exceeding the difficulty of becoming a comedian.

"To become a sinden is a challenge that one of them attracts me," said Celine Evangelista at the VOI office, Wednesday, November 5.

"Being a comedian is already the most difficult job in the entertainment world, in my opinion. But being a sinden is even more difficult," he continued.

He explained that professional sindenes are usually trained since childhood with various rituals and special exercises. Meanwhile, he must master the technique of balance and mantra in a short time.

"For me, the process is only a few months, so hopefully it can show the best, God willing," he said.

Even after the filming and repeated recordings, he admitted that it was difficult to recall the lyrics and cloves.

"It's hard, Mas, now the memorization is gone. It's been how many months," he concluded, showing how complex traditional art is.

Furthermore, the selection of Celine Evangelista as the main role of the sinden in the film "Danyang Wingit Friday Kliwon" turned out to have drawn doubts at the beginning.

The director, Agus Riyanto, revealed that Celine's "bule" appearance was deemed not in accordance with the image of a Javanese sinden who is usually tanya sawo.

"Many players were offered to me. I just said, I asked for one, Sis Celine was the main role," said Agus Riyanto.

He imitated the response he received at the time.

"'Loh Sis Celine is really white, not cooked. If it's usually dates, it's usually sinden.'... Java usually," he recalled.

Even so, Agus has full confidence that Celine is the right person and he doesn't want to replace her.

"But there my belief as a director chose Kak Celine to be the main role. And that's not allowed to be disturbed by me like that," he said.

Danyang Wingit film Friday Kliwon itself will air on November 29 featuring Nathalie Holscher to Djenar Maesa Ayu.
