Kemenbud Encourages Strengthening Of Regional Institutional And Cultural Ecosystems, Especially Gorontalo

"The BPK must be the driving force for cultural promotion in the regions, with an inclusive and sustainable approach," said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon while reviewing the XVII Region Cultural Preservation Center (BPK) in Gorontalo, Wednesday, October 15.

The working visit is part of the Ministry of Culture's strategic agenda to strengthen institutions and expand the reach of cultural conservation programs in eastern Indonesia. Fadli directly reviewed the new buildings that will function as permanent offices of BPK Region XVII, ensuring the readiness of facilities, archival spaces, information centers, and public service facilities.

He emphasized that strengthening BPK institutions is not only related to physical development, but also its functions and contributions in strengthening local cultural ecosystems. BPK is expected to become a center for cultural promotion in a broad sense, not only art, but also language, literature, games, traditional sports, as well as contemporary cultural expressions such as film and music," he said.

Fadli assessed that Gorontalo and eastern Indonesia have extraordinary cultural wealth. Therefore, BPK Region XVII is expected to be the locomotive of cultural development that is participatory, involves cultural actors, indigenous peoples, and the younger generation. Gorontalo has the potential to become one of the important cultural pockets in eastern Indonesia," he added.

Fadli's arrival was welcomed by the appearance of the typical arts of Gorontalo, Longgo and Tuja'i two Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTb) which reflected the spirit of heroism and the value of togetherness.

During the visit, Fadli was accompanied by Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail, Regional Secretary Sofian Ibrahim, as well as a number of regional officials and officials of the Ministry of Culture.

This activity is part of an effort to accelerate the implementation of the Cultural Advancement Law and ensure the presence of the state in protecting and advancing national culture in a sustainable manner.
