JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Indonesia Fadli Zon assessed that today's museums need to appear more attractive by utilizing digital technology in order to be able to attract public interest, especially the younger generation.

"The museum must be good, it must be interesting. Maybe there should also be technological touches, there is an immersive exhibition, there is video mapping, there are digital touches like that," said Fadli Zon in Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, digital innovation is important so that the museum is no longer seen as a rigid or boring place. Through a creative and interactive approach, museums can become a living learning space as well as educational entertainment for visitors.

"The artifacts must be turned on, so that people easily understand the collections on display. This is what we hope, museums can grow, develop, and respond to advances in information technology," he explained.

Fadli emphasized that each museum needs to adapt to the character of each region.

"If the museum is not good, it doesn't come. Is it good, of course, you have to adjust it, for example, provincial museums with wealth and regional characteristics," he added.

Until now, there have been 481 museums throughout Indonesia, consisting of 196 museums under local governments, 118 museums managed by the central government, 166 private or individual museums, and one museum owned by indigenous legal communities.

In commemoration of the Day of the Indonesian Museum which falls every October 12, the Ministry of Culture also held a number of activities, such as the Discussion of the Integrated Group (DKT) and the Declaration of Indonesian Museum Day.

Fadli hopes that this momentum can be an invitation for the public to love museums more and more as an important part of cultured life as well as a window to understand the journey of national civilization.
