Violence Against Children, Areum Ex-T-Ara Sentenced To 8 Months In Prison

JAKARTA - Areum received a verdict for being proven guilty in cases of violence against children and defamation. The former member of the T-Aara group underwent a verdict hearing on Thursday, October 9.

Launching Sports KH, Suwon's court sentenced Areum to 8 months in prison with a two-year suspension of violence against children and defamation reported this January.

He also has to undergo education on preventing violence against children for 40 hours.

This case has been going on since March 2024 when Areum accused her ex-husband of violence against their child through social media. Areum also had an attempt to end his life until he was rushed to the hospital.

The police investigation stated that Areum's ex-husband was free from charges of being the perpetrator and submitted a report to Areum for violence against children and kidnappings.

Areum, who had sued the initial court results, was rejected, so the court sentenced Areum to prison.

Areum debuted as a T-Ara member in July 2012, but a year later he decided to leave the group.

Far from the entertainment world, Areum is still active on social media. In October 2019, he announced his marriage to a businessman and had two children.

They divorced and Areum continued to upload about her ex-husband on social media, causing a negative impression from the public.

In December 2023, Areum announced his new marriage to a non-celebrity.
