How Young People Introduce Batik To Global, Take Advantage Of Live Streaming!

JAKARTA - Every October 2, Indonesia commemorates National Batik Day. This commemoration is carried out to celebrate as well as preserve batik, which has been designated as a Humanitarian Heritage for Lisan Culture and Non-Corruption by UNESCO.

Batik is currently not only used for royal ceremonies or formal events, but has developed into a symbol of Indonesia's identity that can be used by people in their daily lives.

The identity of batik as one of Indonesia's typical cultures must be maintained, especially by the younger generation. One of the steps that young people can take to continue to preserve batik is by increasingly introducing it to the global community, such as through live streaming or live broadcast platforms.

The steps have been taken by Bigo Live creators. They present batik digitally, reinterpreting batik through fashion and stroytelling. This inspired the audience to continue exploring batik with their own creative interpretation.

With the 'Reflecting' trend, young people, especially Gen Z, can combine traditional fabrics such as batik and weaving with modern styles. Bigo Live creators, most young people, continue to echo this, to show how cultural heritage can remain relevant in today's life.

One of these creators is Lilypop, who became the top 1 creator at the Bigo Live Indonesia Mid-Year Gala. He represented Indonesia at the 2025 Mid-Year Gala Bigo Live Turkey Mid-Year in Instantbul, Turkey, where he proudly wore batik on the global stage.

Batik has always been an Indonesian cultural heritage. I feel proud every time I wear it, especially when representing my country abroad," said Lilypop in an official statement, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

At the event, Lilypop also invited Indonesian creators and young people to join the #Bigoberbatik campaign, to share about how important it is to celebrate Indonesia's legacy, namely batik through live streaming platforms.

"I want to introduce Indonesian culture to a wider global society through Bigo Live, and wearing batik is one of the most meaningful ways to introduce our wealth of legacy to the world," concluded Lilypop.
