Gen Z Dismissal In The World Of Work Still Often Occurs, Why?

JAKARTA - Generation Z or Gen Z is now dominating the world of work. However, Gen Z in the world of work often reaps the spotlight, even the level of dismissal of the young generation is quite high.

According to a Resume Genius survey in 2024, 45 percent of recruitment managers call Gen Z who was born in 1997-2012 the most difficult generation to work with. This figure is much higher than the 26 percent who appointed Millennials, 13 percent of Gen X, and 9 percent of Baby Boomers.

Similar results also appear in the 2023 Resume Builder survey. As many as 74 percent of managers describe Gen Z as a difficult generation to handle.

The survey also revealed that 59 percent had fired Gen Z employees, with 1 in 5 admitting to doing so within a week of recruitment, and another 27 percent in the first month.

Regarding the reasons for Gen Z's dismissal due to several reasons according to the Resume Builder, as follows:

However, that doesn't mean everything related to Gen Z in the world of work is a bad thing.ius' Senior Hiring Manager at Resume Genius, Geoffrey Scott, said that Gen Z brought fresh ideas in the world of work that no previous generation had.

"Gen Z may have a bad reputation, but they have the potential to transform the world of work. They don't come to spoil, but bring fresh ideas that can revatilize the company," said Geoffrey Scott, quoted from the Resume Builder page, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

Not only that, Gen Z is also innovative in the world of work. They dare to try new challenges and bring a lot of new things to the world of work.

Compared to other generations, Gen Z is very innovative and adaptive. They dare to challenge the status quo and bring new ideas. However, they can improve interpersonal communication in order to be able to build stronger work relationships,' explained Hairbro Marketing Director Adam Garfield.
