Lisbon Has Been Named The Happyest City For A Holiday

JAKARTA - Vacations are often synonymous with releasing fatigue and creating a new atmosphere. But which city can really give travelers happiness? According to BookRetreats' latest research, a yoga travel agent, the answer is Lisbon, Portugal.

BookRetreats compiled the Holiday Happiness Index, namely the holiday destination happiness index based on five main factors, namely the amount of sunlight, quality sleep, diet health, interactions with nature, and sports opportunities. A total of 47 world destinations are included in this assessment, and Lisbon managed to rank first.

In its report, BookRetreats mentions that Lisbon excels in various happy factors. The city is praised for having many healthy restaurants, leading to being second in the world in that category.

In addition, Lisbon is also compact and easy to explore on foot. Even though the hills are challenging, it actually helps tourists stay active and fit.

Not only that, Lisbon has almost four times more green space than Madrid. With 2,828 hours of sunlight per year, Lisbon is said to be able to provide a refreshing and relaxing holiday experience.

In second place is Helsinki, Finland which stands out thanks to its closeness to nature. BookRetreats highlights a lush garden, a road with trees, and a forest path that blends smoothly with the city.

"The rhythm of a quiet life in Helsinki makes it ideal for tourists looking for calm," the report read, quoted from the Time Out page.

The third place is Orlando, Florida, which is famous for its theme park. But behind the bustle, Orlando also has a lot of green, beach and sunlight spaces for most of the year. Meanwhile, Athens, Greece took fourth place, followed by Edinburgh, Scotland in fifth position.
