Becoming A Jury At JWC 2025, Joko Anwar Awaits Watching Festivals Every Day

JAKARTA - Director Joko Anwar is one of the judges in the KlikFilm Short Movie Competition 2025. Even so, he admits that he is still struggling to fight for tickets to watch the Jakarta World Cinema (JWC) film festival which is his main program.

More than 100 films were selected as contestants before being curated into 30 selected films that Joko Anwar will lead with writer Alim Sudio, directors Herwin Novianto and Aditya Ahmad.

In addition, he is also looking forward to watching various world films through JWC in his fourth year. He felt that watching films at the festival was not just watching but an event to develop his abilities, especially for filmmakers.

"Unfortunately, if you don't come (to JWC). I didn't come as a guest, but I joined the war (ticket)," said Joko Anwar in South Jakarta on Friday, August 29.

"In the past, I remember trying out my film to enter the festival. At JWC, the curation was amazing, from biggest festivals like Cannes, Venice, it was in one venue not going anywhere. Last year, I went to JWC every day," he said.

Furthermore, he hopes fans and filmmakers can also get used to going to film festivals to develop themselves. This was also agreed by Razka Robby Ertanto.

"If you don't watch it, that's a shame. The film is a language and provides the ability to hone skills," said Joko Anwar.

"As a filmmaker, if the film school is a gift because it is basic, and the submission is continuous and meets the filmmaker. Work honestly," said Razka Robby Ertanto.

The Jakarta World Cinema (JWC) 2025 film festival is back in its fourth year of performance. Created by KlikFilm, this film festival seeks to bring films that can be enjoyed from 27 September to 4 October 2025 at CGV Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta.
