JAKARTA - The Singapore government, through the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), has withdrawn three French cheese products from the market due to possible contamination of bacteria.
This action was taken following warnings from French health authorities regarding a listerious outbreak that caused two deaths and several cases of illness.
Reporting from the CNA page on Saturday, August 16, three cheese products were withdrawn, among others:
- Viux Porche Camera De Caractere (imported by Classic Fine Foods)
- Royal Faucon Camera De Caractere (imported by Culina)

Lysteria are bacteria that spread through food and cause poisoning. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. The most vulnerable groups to this infection are newborns, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with a weak immune system.
The SFA said the withdrawal followed France's decision to also attract various soft cheese products such as camembert and Brie. French health authorities have uncovered the cases of isterosis allegedly linked to cheese products from the dairy company, Chavegrand.
The company produces cheese for various supermarket chains in France and also sells cheese to the international market with various brands.
In a statement, SFA announced that:
- Viuux Porche Buchette is withdrawn with expiration limits until August 20, 2025.
- Withdrawal then expanded the next day for the Viux Porche Kambert De Caractere (expire limit until August 30, 2025) and the Royal Faucon Camerat De Caractere (expired limit August 17, 2025).
"Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them. If you feel unwell after consuming them, immediately consult a doctor. Consumers can also contact the place of purchase for further questions," said SFA.

SFA added that soft cheese, especially those experiencing the maturation process with mushrooms, does have a higher risk of contamination from literature. In addition to cheese, other foods that are also at risk include unpasteurized dairy products, cold processed meat, smokefish, and sausages and ready-to-eat meat.
Chavegrand himself stated that the old production plant used to make cheese has now been closed.
