Bangkok Has Been Named The Best City For Gen Z

JAKARTA - The capital city of Thailand, Bangkok, has again reaped achievements in its tourism sector. Bangkok managed to rank first on the Best City List for Gen Z, which was released by travel-specific media company Time Out.

These results differ from the multigeneration rankings released in early 2025. On the list of best cities for all generations, Cape Town, South Africa was ranked first, then Bangkok, New York, and Melbourne.

Then the ranking was filtered back only for respondents under the age of 30 or Gen Z (age 13-28 years), plus young millennials, as a result Bangkok was ranked first as the best city.

The indicators of the assessment of the list are happiness, affordability, and convenience to meet new people. Young people think that Bangkok is a very ideal city to make friends.

"Bangkok meets all the best city categories, namely famously friendly, rich in budget, and filled with icons such as Wat Arun and Grand Palace," wrote Time Out, on its official website, quoted on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Then in second place is the list of best cities for young people occupied by Melbourne, Australia. Nearly 80 percent of Melbourne's young people described the city as diverse and inclusive, and 96 percent praised its Mondays and culture.

The third place on the list is Cape Town. The city excels in the beauty category, the coastal city under the majestic shadow Table Mountain, and affordable nightlife. Three of the four young people say that drinking in Cape Town tends to be cheap compared to other cities.
