JAKARTA For Ashel JKT48, film More Than Forever is not just an ordinary acting project. Behind his role as Nasya, he found pieces of the story that touched his personal experience, as well as faced the biggest acting challenges in his career so far.

Even though he admits that he is not fully related to the flow of the film, Ashel feels connected to one very personal side, namely loss.

"To be honest, from the film More Than Forever I'm not related, there is only a side that I relate to, namely about losing," said Ashel to reporters.

"My parents have remarried and I really understand how a child feels about accepting new people, their heartache, and many who go through," he continued.

He said that every child has a different way of responding to this situation.

"Of my other brothers, there are also those who accept gracefully. So I'm quite related to losing and the new person is as a child," he added.

Interestingly, the character Nasya he plays has a resemblance to his brother in real life.

"Nasya in the film with Nasya in real life is really the same in nature. She is more willing, more willing, even encourages my parents to remarry," said Ashel.

"After playing Nasya, I can really feel it from two POVs, as Ashel and as Nasya."

However, that emotional experience didn't stop there. There was one scene that became the toughest acting test for him, namely the moment when Nasya had to vent her anger on her father after finding something in the cupboard.

"Surely it feels like, 'Why are you still like this? Why are you still like that?' Because that's how emotional it is to wake up," he said.

"Initially still, 'Father, let's go like this,' I'm still nervous. But a long time after it piled up, it finally exploded," he explained.

This challenge is getting bigger because of Ashel's original nature who tends to be obedient and gentle to fathers in the real world.

"I'm the type of person who likes you, but on the one hand because I'm already big with you, I can go that hard. So it was quite difficult at that time to make the scene angry," said Ashel.

For Ashel, More Than Forever is a space to combine personal experiences with character deepening, as well as learn to process emotions that he rarely takes out. He hopes that the audience can feel the depth of the story and family conflicts displayed.

Film More Than Forever will be shown in theaters starting August 28, 2025.
