Margono Djojohadikusumo's Book Review: Economic Fighters And Founders Of BNI 46 At Aston Serang Hotel (Doc. Ist)

JAKARTA Economic independence doesn't just come. He was built with courage, sacrifice, and the belief that this nation was able to stand on its own feet.

The message was conveyed by the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in his remarks read by the Ministerial Special Staff, M. Asrian Mirza, during the book review event Margono Djojohadikusumo: Economic Fighters and Founders of BNI 46 at the Aston Serang Hotel, Friday (18/7).

Fadli emphasized that Margono was not only an economic figure, but a symbol of people's resistance to foreign domination. He dared to establish BNI on July 5, 1946 when Indonesia did not yet have its own financial system. From Yogyakarta, BNI scored Oeang of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI), a milestone in the nation's economic sovereignty.

"For the younger generation, this is an important lesson. Struggle does not only occur on the battlefield, but also on the economic policy table," said Fadli.

He also mentioned Margono's childhood, which was full of discrimination, but sparked the spirit of nationality. Margono became the pioneer of cooperatives and people's credit, with the spirit of the people's economy which was later passed on to his son, Prof. Sumitro Djojohadikusumo.

Not only that, his two sons, Subianto and Sujono, died in the Battle of Lengkong. This family story proves that patriotism is not inherited, but fought for, "said Fadli.

Fadli gave his appreciation to the team of bookmakers chaired by Iqbal Irsyad. This book, he said, was not just a biography, but a window to re-examine the roots of the nation's economic independence.

The head of the FPRMI, Bernandus Wilson Lumi, added that this book is important to be introduced to young people and journalists, so that the history of economic struggle does not disappear. This book review is part of the 2nd Anniversary of the Indonesian Multimedia Red Forum.

In addition to the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon represented by M. Asrian Mirza, the Special Staff of the Minister for Media and Public Communications and the compilation team of Iqbal Irsyad, HMU Kurniadi, Jimmy S Harianto, in the book review event were also present with representatives of the family of Djojohadikusumo, Endang. The participants consist of journalists, students from Sultan Agung Tirtayasa University and UIN Banten.
