JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) is focusing on developing Greenomina, a green application that is expected to involve the community more to participate in reducing the climate crisis. This application can calculate carbon dioxide emissions, emission absorption, and facilitate carbon trading.
Forming an environmentally conscious ecosystem is the basis for Greenomina's development. Furthermore, Pertamina has also begun to invite workers to do energy efficiency, runners at the Pertamina Eco RunFest event can take into account its emissions to convert them to carbon-free, to calculate emissions from airplane passengers and balance their respective emissions.
The above steps are expected to expand the decarbonization ecosystem from internal and external, as well as strengthen Pertamina's position as an active contributor to the carbon economy.
"Energy transformation is not only a matter of replacing fossil fuels with new and renewable energy (EBT), but also a matter of changing the behavior, awareness, and culture of the company and society. Greenomina is a tool as well as a movement to bring climate issues closer to everyday life," said Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero) Fadjar Djoko Santoso in a written broadcast received by VOI, July 18.

Greenomina, which stands for Pertamina's Green and Net Zero Emission, was developed by four young Pertamina officers. Before officially launching, this application has won various appreciations including winning Biznovation at the end of 2022, as well as winning second place in the 2024 SOE Idea Eco event organized by the Ministry of SOEs.
This application allows individuals and institutions to calculate carbon emissions from various activities such as travel, lodging, electricity and water use, food consumption, and waste, which can then be compensated for with a carbon credit scheme.
Aoa Is Carbon Emission?
Carbon emissions, or more precisely carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, are the main greenhouse gases produced by human activities such as transportation, electricity consumption, food production, and others. This emission contributes significantly to climate change, because it accumulates in the atmosphere and concurrently heats.
Calculating carbon emissions from our activities is important, to understand the environmental footprint we leave behind. More importantly, so that we can contribute to reducing emissions or offsetting them by trading carbon emissions that we generate, to other parties who do not have emissions, or are referred to as carbon credit, "explained Fadjar.
Greenomina Application
Since January 2025, Greenomina has been used for Pertamina's Carbon Neutral Business Trip program, namely the calculation of emissions from Pertamina's official travel activities. Until now, more than 10,000 official trips have been measured through this application. In addition, employee involvement actively strengthens internal carbon demand and paves the way for carbon credit marketing from renewable energy projects such as geothermals.
In addition, at various events, such as Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024, the first neutral carbon run event in Indonesia was attended by around 21,000 participants. With the help of Greenomina, all emission traces from the Pertamina Eco Runfest 2024 event, ranging from transportation to food consumption for runners and festival visitors, are calculated and compensated scientifically and transparently.
Greenomina has also supported Pelita Air's inaugural flight for the Jakarta 'Banjarmasin' inaugural route in November 2023, becoming the first carbon-neutral flight in Indonesia. In addition, this application is being explored for collaboration with the hotel and tourism sectors, such as with Patra Jasa, to realize a holiday period and stay overnight with the concept of carbon-neutral in various national destinations.
"This application provides awareness to the public that everyone can know carbon emissions from their daily activities and have a role in reducing environmental impacts," added Fadjar.
Looking At Net Zero Emission 2060
A practical, open, and global standard-based approach is the main force of Greenomina. Carbon emission calculations use references from international institutions such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and are scientifically verified by the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and the Sepelber Ten Institute of Technology (ITS).
This makes Greenomina credible scientifically as well as applicative to public needs and corporates. Fadjar hopes that Greenomina can become a sustainable commercial platform.
This application helps various companies that want to develop a carbon-neutral business and contribute to creating a healthier environment. In the end, Greenomina not only strengthens Pertamina's commitment to the Indonesian Government's 2060 net zero emissions target, but is also a driver of social changes that can be utilized by consumers, communities, and the younger generation of Indonesia.
Pertamina as a leading company in the field of energy transition, is committed to supporting the target of net zero emissions 2060 by continuing to encourage programs that have a direct impact on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All these efforts are in line with the implementation of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) in all business lines and operations of Pertamina.
