In Islamic teachings, one of the greatest forms of parental love given to children is by praying for them. What are the prayers of parents for children that can be practiced?

Parents' Prayers for Children

Prayer is a powerful weapon for a believer. Moreover, the prayer of parents to their children will be more quickly accepted by Allah SWT. In a hadith, the Prophet said,

"Three prayers that are accepted and not rejected are: the prayers of parents for their children, the prayers of the fasting person, and the prayers of the oppressed." (HR. Tirmidzi)

Therefore, when children are studying, facing exams, or even when they are tired and desperate in the process of demanding knowledge, parents should continue to pray for them. Below are prayers that parents can practice so that their children are blessed with intelligence and success in learning.

Prayer for a Sholeh Child

Quoted from the book Beautiful Marriage & My House, Surgaku by H. Ade Saroni, the prayer of a pious child in the Qur'an is taught in the letter Al-Furqan verse 74 and Surat Ibrahim verse 40.

And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring yang mencintai kami dan jadikanlah kami imam bagi orang-orang yang bertakwa.

Arabic: walladzîna yaqûlûna rabbanâ hab lanâ min azwâjinâ wa dzurriyyâtinâ qurrata a'yuniw waj'alnâ lil-muttaqîna imâmâ

"And those who say, "O our Lord, grant us from our wives and offspring who will be pleasing to You, and make us leaders of the righteous."

The reading of the prayer in the Quran, Surat Ibrahim, verse 40,

"O my Lord, make me a constant (prayer) and from my offspring, O our Lord, and accept my call.

Arabic: rabbij'alnî muqîmash-shalâti wa min dzurriyyatî rabbanâ wa taqabbal du'â'

"O my Lord, make me and my descendants establishers of prayer. O our Lord, accept my prayer." (Surah Ibrahim: 40)

Prayer to be Blessed with Smart Children

Taken from the book Risalah Doa & Zikir Keluarga by the Madinatul Ilmi Team, the following is a prayer for a child who is smart:

O Allah, make my children and my descendants from the people of knowledge and the people of good, and do not make me and them from the people of evil and the people of evil, and give me and them a beneficial knowledge and a wide sustenance and a good character and the certainty of the obedience of the Prophets and praise be to Allah.

Rabb al-Alamin

Latin: Allahum maj'al aulaadii wa dzurriyyatii min ahlil 'ilmi wa ahlil khoiri walaa taj'alnii waiyyaahum min ahlissuu-I wa ahlidh dhoiri warzuqnii wa iyyaahum 'ilman naafi'an wa rizqon waasi'an wa khuluqon hasanan wat taufiqo liththoo'ati wa fahman nabiyyiina wal hamdulillahi robbil 'aalamin.

"Ya Allah, make me and my children and my grandchildren from the group of experts in knowledge and experts in goodness and do not make us experts in evil and experts in corruption. Give me sustenance and give them useful knowledge and wide sustenance, a good body, guidance for obedience and understanding as the understanding of the prophets. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds."

Prayer for Smart and Successful Children

Quoted from the book The Most Complete Book of Mustajab Prayers by Ustadz H. Amrin Ali Al-Kasyaf, below is a prayer reading so that children have sharpness in thinking and success.

"Ya Allah, aku memohon kepada-Mu kebaikan pertanyaan, kebaikan doa, kebaikan kesuksesan, kebaikan perbuatan, kebaikan balasan, kebaikan kehidupan, kebaikan kematian, jadikanlah aku tetap dan teguhkanlah pendirianku, perkuatlah imanku, tingkatkanlah kedudukanku, dan terimalah salatku dan ampunilah dosaku dan carilah kedudukan yang tinggi di surga."

Arabic: Allahumma inni as-aluka khairal mas-alati wa khairad du'aa-i, wa khairan najaahi, wa khairal 'amali, wa khairats tsawaabi, wa khairal hayaati, wa khairal mamaati, tsabbitnii wa tsaqqil mawaaziinii, wa haffif iimaanii warfa' darajaatii, wa taqabbal shalawaatii waghfir khathii-ati, wa as-alukad darajaatil 'ulyaa fil jannah.

"Ya Allah, indeed I ask You for the best of requests, the best of prayers, the best of success, the best of deeds, the best of rewards, the best of life, and the best of death. Stay with me and weigh the balance of my good deeds, strengthen my faith, raise my rank, accept my prayers, and forgive my mistakes. And, I ask You to get the highest level in heaven."
