Baek Jong Won Withdraws From Television In The Aftermath Of Culinary Business Controversy

JAKARTA - Celebrity Chef Baek Jong Won announced his resignation from the South Korean television industry. This news was shared after he experienced controversy regarding his culinary business network, The Born Korea.

Tuesday, May 6, Baek Jong Won released a video on his YouTube channel entitled I will start again from the beginning where he explains the controversy linking his name to business.

Some of the controversies in question relate to The Born Korea when several netizens complained about differences in taste from several branches at Baek Jong Won's restaurant. In addition, the employee recruitment process was also highlighted for asking personal questions.

He also became controversial after former television producer Kim Jae Hwan accused Baek Jong Won of treating television staff badly, but this accusation was met by other producers at the same event.

In the video, Baek Jong Won will be responsible for all problems and is working on a work culture at his company to avoid similar controversy.

"If my words and actions in the process of making entertainment content hurt anyone, it is my responsibility," Baek Jong Won said in the video.

Therefore, Baek Jong Won decided to reduce or withdraw from television shows for now, except for shows that have been produced.

Baek Jong Won has been active on South Korean television since 2011. Since then, he has been known as a chef as well as a television star who is considered successful, especially in the field of entertainment and culinary.

This year, Baek Jong Won starred in Culinary Class Wars 2 with Ahn Sung Jae, The Genius Paik 3, Soju Rhapsody, as well as being a guest at Kian's Bizarre B&B.

He also finished filming on the Antarctic continent for the Chef of Antarentica event, but the broadcast has not yet been announced as a result of this controversy.
