JAKARTA - The late Ray Sahetapy will be buried at the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery (TPU), South Jakarta on Friday, April 4.

However, Ray Sahetapy's younger brother, Charly Sahetapy, said that his brother actually wanted to be buried in his hometown in Central Sulawesi.

"The children are because they asked to be buried here. Yes, it is true that he asked to be buried (buried in Sulawesi). So, it's been a long time," said Charly Sahetapy at Sentosa Funeral Home, Senen, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 2.

"Because we have a family of Sahetapy Nelwan. Nelwan is Manado. Sahetapy Ambon. There is a special grave for us there. From my grandmother's grandfather, then my mother's father was there. He also asked (to be buried) there," he continued.

Before he died, Ray Sahetapy had several times expressed his desire to return there.

"And 'I will be back here'. He has repeatedly talked to his brothers and sisters. But the children, they also want to clean their graves later," said Charly.

But the family gave Ray Sahetapy's children time to take care of his grave in Jakarta before being moved to Sulawesi.

"Okay, we give 1-2 years (buried in Tanah Kusir). Later according to his mandate, maybe we will move there. Maybe yes, we will see developments later," he explained.

"2 years is quite long. So, we will see that development. So we will still follow what the children want first," he concluded.
