Ray Sahetapy Defeated By Disease Complications After Struggling Since 2017

JAKARTA - The family of Ferenc Raymond Sahetapy alias Ray Sahetapy who died on Tuesday, April 1 yesterday. Ray Sahetapy's younger brother, Charly Sahetapy, revealed the cause of his brother's departure due to complications after one month of treatment.

"He (died because of) complications, he was admitted to the hospital on the 3rd (March), I took him to the hospital and then checked here and there, it's time. He has tried to get him well but God has other plans, he finally returns," said Charly Sahetapy at Sentosa Funeral Home, Senen, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 2.

Charly said that Ray's condition had indeed decreased since 2017 due to diabetes, not to mention that he had a stroke in 2023.

"I'm not aware, actually like this, Ray is diabetes for a long time actually from 2017, then maybe you've seen him walk not as normal, not as enthusiastic as he used to be," continued Charly Sahetapy.

"And he had a stroke in June-July in 2023, so during that time we tried to treat him so that he could return to normal, but he was also in the healing process," he said.

Ray has undergone treatment several times but his condition has decreased. Until finally he closed his age at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.

"One more thing, he sometimes forgets, because of his stroke. We took him to the RSCM, he was good enough, better. But the longer it dropped, that's why we brought him here, so that he could be fitter. We hope so," he explained.

"It turned out that his lungs were a bit (severe). Had two shortness of breath, it was also here at the RSPAD, entered the ICU again, monitored. But then he was sucked in more than 2 liters of liquid in his lungs," he continued.

"It's starting to return to normal, but HB is getting lower, the tension is also bad. If God has called, we want to do what else," he concluded.
